Death Sentence #1

G+, a new STD is going around giving people a six month lifespan and superpowers. The book follows three people who contract the virus: Verity, a graphic designer; Weasel, as a tanking guitarist; and slimey comedian Monty.

This is an interesting what-do-you-do-with-the-time-you-have-left stories. It’s rather dark and of course there’s sex, being it’s about an STD, but it doesn’t present anything to grab me. I don’t particularly like any of the characters at all in any capacity whatsoever, so the answers to such questions don’t matter to me. I don’t even care how or where the virus came about, nor what sinister purpose it serves. I attribute that to my not liking the main characters. That’s enough to filter down and render everything else inert. This isn’t to say the book is terrible and isn’t written or drawn well. On the contrary, the art’s good, the writing and dark wit hit the mark, and it kept me engaged throughout the issues. It just didn’t interest me in the end, but if the premise interests you, by all means go check it out. I don’t regret giving it a try.
